Here is the enamel wash part. I have done an initial weathering too using the Enamel wash. The Uni Pin marker and the Weathering Master is used for the next part of the WIP.

Tools used:
Enamel Black
Lighter Fluid
Small Brush

WIP Part 9: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Sandrock EW: Gloss Coating

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 |

Here is what I have done after preparing the parts. I always do a gloss coat because I do enamel wash for the panel lines and a sort of weathering too.

Tools used:
Alligator Clip + Barbecue Stick - to hold the parts for drying
Styrofoam - holds the sticks upon drying the parts
Bosny No. 190 Gloss Coat

WIP Part 8: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Sandrock EW: Preparing for Gloss Coating

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 |

I prepared the armor parts respectively (Body, Head, Arm, Leg, Waist, Backpack & Shield) before gloss coating. Here are the pictures.

WIP Part 7: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Sandrock EW: Dry Brushing and Detailing

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 |

This is the best part I love the most. I had fun dry brushing and detailing the inner frame. I dry brushed all the inner frame, gun and the shotel holder showing that it was worn out. Done some random detailing just to show details on the frame.

Tools used:
Small Brush - for detailing

I am amazed on these MG Wing Series kit, because even the backpack do have inner frame too. I also assembled the Gun and the Shotel since they came in the same color as the inner frame. Here are the pictures upon assembling.

WIP Part 5: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Sandrock EW: Inner Frame Assemble

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 |

I start my WIP with assembling the inner frame.

Tools used:
X-acto Knife - to trim the and clear the remaining plastic from the runner
Side Cutter - cutting the parts away from the runner

WIP Part 4: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Sandrock EW: Washing-Drying the Runners

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 |

I always Wash the runners with a dish washing liquid specially if my WIP has to do with painting. I learned this from Gunpla TV's Syd Sked. Chemical residue may still be in the runners after molding. This residue might prevent the paint from sticking in the plastic specially if you are not sanding.

Back December 2011, I bought a MG Sandrock for the Hobbylink Japan Sci-Fi Modelling Competition. Though I didn't win, I am still happy because my work did get some credits from the people in facebook who have seen my work.

I've been hiding the WIP pictures just to follow the #1 rule in the competition "Entry must not appear in the Internet throughout the competition progress". Now, that the results are up, I would like to share the WIP for my MG Sandrock. Let us start with the box preview.

Styrofoam - to rest the barbecue stick for drying

WIP Part 11: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Heavyarms EW: Enamel Wash & Initial Weathering

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 12 | Part 13 |

After drying my gloss coat for almost 2 days. I added enamel wash and initial weathering to the armors parts. Here's what I used in my Enamel Wash. From eft to right:

#1 Cotton buds - Cleaning the excess from the enamel wash.
#2 Lotus Black Enamel - I think any Enamel will do for enamel wash.
#3 Lighter Fluid - I collected the Lighter Fluid into a small jar for easy transfer.
#4 Enamel Wash Mixture - I already made a mixture of my wash before starting.
#5 Barbecue Stick - For stirring the mixture.
#6 Fine Tip Paint Brush

Just finished Gloss Coating the armors parts. Thanks to the sunny afternoon. I will let this dry overnight then proceed to Enamel Wash and a bit of initial weathering tomorrow. I used Bosny Clear Gloss No. 190 and some alligator clip with barbecue sticks to hold. I also used a piece of Styrofoam where I can rest the painted part for drying. Here are some pictures of the WIP.

WIP Part 9: Bandai MG 1/100 Gundam Heavyarms EW: Preparing for Gloss Coating
